Climate Change & Resilience

Devbase was engaged to develop a climate change and resilience strategy for a proposed transmission network service provider

The Solution

Our advisors implemented a framework which assessed the existing and proposed new controls crucial for maintaining an efficient transmission systems and ensuring a safe and reliable energy supply. A holistic lifecycle approach, considering both electrical and physical aspects, was essential for minimising the climate change impacts of the transmission network and also ensuring its resilience now and into the future.

The resilience strategy utilised work completed by a number of Australian distribution network services providers in developing a definition for resilience.  This definition aligned with the requirements stipulated National Electricity Law (NEL) framework, and the associated National Electricity Objective (NEO).  The resilience strategy focused on common climate risks (heat, bushfire, water, drought, wind and storms) to assess the impact, assess opportunities and advise strategies for further benefit analysis.
