The Challenge
Our Contract Coal Mining client approached Devbase for independent review of their Open Cut mine site operation in Queensland, to assist the Executive Leadership team in validating concerns raised at a site operations level, with respect to both commercial and operational working relationships with the mine asset owner. Devbase were sought for their experience in Operations Leadership to inform the clients' Executive Leadership Team on risks and opportunities to improve the operational performance of the mine site.
The Solution
Our Executive Advisor attended the clients' mine-site and spent time with each department. Site observations were performed through a series of Employee & Subcontractor face to face interviews together with shadowing the site supervision team and performing Day-In-the-Life-Of observations, which included attending key meetings with internal and Mine Owner teams.
Our advisor sought workforce feedback on the following elements
Our advisors' observations were synthesized through a lens of the supporting role each client operations department played in driving revenue through mining production to critically evaluate operational challenges reported from the site leadership team. Our advisor provided their report and presentations to the Client’s executive leadership team to inform a series of post review actions.
Devbase Impact
Our advisor brought site-based experience in leading large multi-site operations and project field teams to engage with site personnel and quickly assess the operating workflow of the site. Our review data would subsequently inform and underpin a Change Program to improve the operating rhythm, moral, staff retention and commercial relationships and contract performance of our client with the Mine Asset owner.
